How can I make the dark circles and bags under my eyes dissapear?
I’m 14, and I wear glasses (I’m a girl btw). When I take them off, I notice these small purple circles under my eyes and bags.
I get enough sleep, I drink a lot of water, but I don’t know what’s the problem.
I think wearing glasses has made me have these bags.

Question is, how can I get rid of them? Any at-home methods? Please help. Thanks.

And by the way, how long will it take to work?

    • hannah ♥ says:

No, dark circles can sometimes be hereditary. i have them too. Are you really pale? Because I am, and it makes the dark circles stand out more. I don’t see how wearing glasses can cause the dark circles, unless your prescription is too strong. You know, you can achieve a brighter-eyed look by using any pale pink or white eyeshadow in the corners of the eyes. you’ll look more awake. hope I could help.

How do I get rid of the bags and dark circles that I have under my eyes?
I always have bags and dark circles under my eyes. I’ve tried many things to get rid of them, but they don’t work. I’ve tried most make ups, which get rid of the dark circles a bit, but I still need something that reduces the bags under my eyes. If possible, could anyone share any solutions or home remedies that you know that could get rid of either bags, dark circles, or both?? Websites concerning this are also appreciated. Thanks to anyone who answers! =) A happy new year to all!!

    • beez says:

And Happy New Year to You. Chilled slices of cucumbers, cotton pads dipped in Witch Hazel or ice packs temporarily reduce bags under the eyes. Reducing salt intake helps, too.

Do dark circles/bags under eyes go away? or are they permanent?
I have a really bad sleeping pattern, which has resulted in me getting dark circles and bags under my eyes. I’m hoping to change my sleeping pattern for the better. I was wondering though whether they go away or once you get them they stay forever? and what can I do to get rid of them and how long would the process take?

  4. BeeDalton says:

Does using tea bags really help reduce dark circles under your eyes?
I’ve hear using tea bags helps reduce dark circles under your eyes. Is that true?

And if it is true how do you prepare the teabags to put on your dark circles?

    Thanks!

    • RileyRae says:

Yeah actually it does. The tea has caffeine in them which constricts the blood vessles under puffy or dark eyes.

Are there any home-remedies for the dark-circles and bags under my eyes?
Home remedies…as in things that I can create with objects, food, and etc (if any), to lessen or ‘take away’ the severity of the dark-circles and bags under my eyes. Thank you so much.

    Extra info: I’m a male.

Put some spoons in the freezer and let them freeze, then put them under your dark-circles for about 15 minutes. Afterwards, crush up some cucumber and put those under your eyes for 15 minas welll.
Do this until they are gone every morning… Whenever you feel is necessary.

    • thatchica2003 says:

For the bags under your eyes I put a spoon in the freezer for 3 hours and I take it out and put it on the bottom of my eye the swelling goes down ,and for your dark circles try a yellow concelar do not rub when you apply dab with a sponge or fingers, good luck!! :)

How can I get rid of my dark circles and bags under my eyes?

    • candysis says:

Okay, so you can never really ‘get rid’ of eye bags and dark circles. However, if you really take care of it, you can minimize it and make it more unnoticable. First, try a lemon facial. Just take a lemon, and squeeze the juice out of it. Mix it with hot water and dip a fresh cloth or towel in it. Then put it on under your eyes or your entire face. Wait for 5~10 minutes and your skin would feel fresh. Use a good moisturizer and also SLEEP A LOT! Sleeping really helps with eye bags and circles under your eyes. Eat healthy and sleep! I hope this helped!

    Bags/Dark Circles under my eyes?
for the past few weeks or so i’ve noticed i have dark circles under my eyes and bags under my eyes

i was wondering if the fact i have conjunctivitis at the moment is why have them

i’m desperately trying to get rid of them, i’ve heard the tea bags and all of that, but i was wondering why i actually have them

i use the computer alot, and once again i say i have conjunctivitis at the moment

once my conjunctivitis has gone, and if i stopped using pc, would the puffyness and darkness be likely to go away? thank you
I also forgot to mention I suffer from hayfever, although i seem to have my allergies under control

    someone please help i’m desperate
i also forgot to mention i have these weird little white spots under my eyes on the dark areas

quite a few very little white spots

    • ka says:

Most of it is genetic. I have them to. Just get lots of sleep, and try not be stressed to much. I also have heard that when you cry a lot under eye circles appear darker. Not sure if it’s true tho. Also drink plenty of water. Getting a bit of color in your face as well as putting cold spoons under eyes may help. Get ShiSeido Benefiance Revitalizing Cream. I got mine from Macy’s and just a tiny dab of it does wonders on dark circles.

vitamin E oil, olive oil, cucumbers, & a doctor can also help. I have pretty bad ones so this is all from experience.

      Hope this helps. :)

    • ☆MaSkintologist☆ says:

Change in diet will do nothing most likely. Drinking more water will do nothing. Get the science and facts straight. Just understand there is no miracle treatment. Sorry.

      DARK CIRLES

Most likely you cannot find a cosmetic or skin care that can fix or “heal” dark circle, you are just out of luck in this area. Cosmetics can cover it up, sure.

I will list several causes and treatment for you:

      1.Allergies (there are dozens)
Treatment: take an antihistamine like Benadryl (or generic version) or Zyrtec or Claritin, whichever you do not have issue with. Generic is cheaper and contain the same ingredient and amount. Speak with your local pharmacist for further assistant.

      2.Atopic dermatitis (eczema)
Treatment: 1% hydrocortisone. If your eczema is severe, go to your local board certified dermatologist for prescription.

3.Heredity (your genetic predetermines that the skin under your eyes are dark)
Treatment – Out of luck with skin care and cosmetics here, sorry. You need to visit your board certified plastic surgeon for medical options such as lasers, light, or dermal injections just to list a few. Wear a conclear that suits your skin tone.

4.Nasal congestion (inflamed veins, more prominent veins means more dark color visible)
Treatment: use a nasal decongestant like Sudafed or Afrin or any generic. Generic is cheaper and contain the same ingredient and amount. Speak with your local pharmacist for further assistant.

5.Hyperpigmentation/Sun exposure (related; sun can make pigment irregularities worst; for you can darken the area if you rub the area too often)
Treatment: You need to use exfoliant, skin lightener, and wear sunscreen daily. Wear concealer.

6.Thin skin and/or loss fat and collagen (making veins more visible, thus, having more dark color visible
Treatment: You need exfoliant, retinoid, and wear sunscreen daily. If you prefer a chemical peel or more invasive methods that can provide more dramatic improvement, see your dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

7.Shadows caused by heavy deep set eyes and sagging skin
Treatment: use exfoliant and retinoids for “some” collagen production. Make sure you wear sunscreen daily. For severe sagging skin, visit your dermatologist or plastic surgeon for options such as chemical peels or lasers or surgical procedure.

      Puffy Eyes

You are out of luck in the skin care or cosmetics. Sorry. There are dozens of eye creams out there that claims to depuff and lighten dark circles and they are almost always lying through their teeth. There is no solid research that indicates that cucumber or caffeine to be effective to remove the bags under your eyes. Tea bags, well, their may be chemicals in there that can constrict blood vessels and drain the fluids, but there is no guarantee. Try if you like!

Here are the causes and treatment I suggest:

8.Fluid retention from weather changes, hormone fluctuations, or salty foods.
Treatment: Reduce salt intake. Alcohol can also cause water retention. The hormone fluctuation (think puberty or your period) and weather changes is beyond your control, so there is little you can do with that if your puffiness is triggered by them. You can take oral contraceptives to balance out hormone. Speak with your personal physicians for further assistance. You can “perhaps” manually drain the fluids with a circular massaging motion around your eyes, but please be gentle, you do not want to tear any elastin or rub too hard that you make matters worse.

      9.Sleeping flat on your back
Treatment: sleep on an incline! Have your pillow slightly elevated so the fluids can be drained overnight.

10.Not getting enough sleep (leads to stress leads to hormone imbalance)
Treatment: Get enough sleep! If you have a difficult time sleeping, speak with your pharmacist for further assistant.

11.Allergies or dermatitis (redness and itching)
Treatment: Avoid any skin care products that may contain fragrance or other irritants that can make matters worse. To deal with existing redness and itching, you may want to apply 1% hydrocortisone. If the problem persist like severe case of eczema, you need to visit your local board certified dermatologist for professional opinion.

12.Heredity (your genetic predetermines that you have puffy eyes, sorry!)
Treatment: Either embrace it or get it fix with your board certified plastic surgeon. He or she can surgically remove the fat pad under your eyes so you will not have a bulge or that “puff” anymore.

I get these dark circles under my eyes that make me look like I am tired, even when I get enough sleep. I was wondering if there is a simple way of removing those dark circles, and if there is, what are those methods?

    • Z says:

All of the advice you have read on this forum is quite reasonable and certainly getting enough rest, fluids, vitamins and general self-care will not do you any harm.
However, many people with dark circles under their eyes can never fully be rid of them. It’s genetic, I’m afraid. I am half-Polish and also have that “death-camp-survivor” look.

What I do, and it’s just my own personal situation, is eat at least one banana per day. After a few days, I swear I don’t look nearly as ghoulish. Again, this is just my own personal experience and I don’t pretend that it’s anything more than that – but give it a try anyway…along with all the other good words of wisdom you have received from others who have answered this question!

      Good luck

    • moonpiglet says:

to get rid of dark circles:

      1. lack of sleep is usually the main cause but seen as this is not the case for you it’s also believed that too little time lying down is a cause in itself. determine how much sleep you need (it’s usually 7-9 hours per night, but varies throughout different people) and try to get that amount regularly for a couple of weeks to see if that helps. remember that alcohol and drugs can adversely affect the quality of your sleep; abstain from these products or use only in moderation for best results.

      2. establish whether or not this condition runs in your family. dark circles are believed to frequently be hereditary. this doesn’t mean that you can’t do anything about the conditions, but you should be prepared for minimal success actually trying to get rid of them. dark circles under the eye may also, in fact, be light carbon deposits that result from incomplete protein digestion. incomplete protein digestion may result from insufficient hydrochloric acid in your stomach that may be caused from a lack of primarily b6 and folic acid. about 30% of the population does not absorb regular b6 (pydroxine) or folic acid and need to take in these vitamins in a different form or another way.

      3. identify allergens. allergies may be the most common cause of skin discoloration under the eyes. if allergies are the root of your problem, you simply need to treat them or remove the allergen (the thing to which you are allergic). seasonal allergy problems such as the hay fever can frequently be effectively treated with over-the-counter and prescription medications. for other allergies the best course of action is usually avoidance. if your dark circles or puffiness are constant, you may have an undetected food allergy or an allergy to a chemical in your home or workplace. talk to a dermatologist for help determining what you may be allergic to. people with allergies also tend again to be deficient in b6, folic acid. taking a multivitamin, if you don’t already, may help with your allergies as well as black circles.

      4. treat your skin while you sleep. there are overnight facial masques available that may help reduce the appearance of puffiness or discoloration, but you can also make your own. just before you go to bed, take a washcloth and wet it just a bit with cold water. then squeeze out any excess water and place it over your eyes as you sleep.

      5. apply cool tea bags, an ice cube wrapped in soft cloth, or cucumber slices to your eyes daily. the tannin in tea bags has been shown to reduce swelling and discoloration, and cucumber slices have long been used to reduce puffiness and refresh the appearance of skin around the eyes. lie down, preferably in the morning, and leave fresh cucumber slices or cool, damp caffeinated tea bags (you can refrigerate them overnight so they’ll be ready) over your eyes for about 10-15 minutes. keep your eyes closed.

      6. try to relax the space. you can do this by wetting a cotton swab and then freezing it for a little while. then you should gently wipe under your eyes in the areas where the circles are occurring. when wiping, close your eyes and try not to flinch.

      7. apply an eye cream containing vitamin k and retinol. research has shown that skin creams containing these two ingredients reduce puffiness and discoloration significantly in many patients. long-term daily use seems to have the greatest effect.

      8. avoid rubbing your eyes. usually rubbing of the eyes is brought on by allergies, but not always. regardless of the reason, stop doing it. the rubbing irritates the skin and can break tiny capillaries beneath the skin, causing both puffiness and discoloration.

      9. eat a healthy, balanced diet and drink plenty of water. a whole host of cosmetic problems can be attributed to vitamin deficiencies. be sure to get plenty of fruits and vegetables—especially cabbage, spinach, and other leafy green vegetables. get adequate fluids to improve circulation.

      10. reduce salt intake. excess salt causes the body to retain water in unusual places, and this can result in puffiness under the eyes. too much salt can also impair your circulation, and cause the blood vessels under the skin to appear bluer.

      11. if you smoke- then quit. smoking causes vascular (blood vessel) problems that can not only threaten your life, but also make your blood vessels appear more prominent and bluer beneath the skin.

      12. if this doesnt work try covering the problem up with cosmetics. use a yellow or flesh-toned colour which will camouflage the problem under your eyes. mac do the best ones for covering up dark circles although they are a bit expensive. if you are on a budget i would definately reccomend rimmel. good luck

      hope this helps

One time, i decided to sleep early for once (well, actually sleep on time, not early) cuz i always slept late, and after a few days of sleeping on time, the circles started to go away. – so it Does work!

I always get enough sleep and drink plenty of water, and I’m only 20, but I still get dark circles and sometimes bags. I can usually cover them up with Go Magic Wand concealer (a bit like Touche Eclat) but ideally I’d like to prevent them. Have you tried that Avon Anew clinical eye cream stuff, does it work? Do you know any other creams to stop dark patches or is it best just to cover them?

    • CourtneyElaine says:

First of all go find yourself something containing Vitamin K. That will help with the circles. As for covering and tightening I alwasy recommend Benefit Ooh La la Lift! as it brightens and tightens as well as Smashbox Photo Op Undereye Brightener. Both of these are available at Sephora stores!

I work a six ‘o clock shift from my home but when I have to go into the office it’s about 4.30 when I get up. I alwasy use Ooh La la Lift! on those days as well as Benefit Eye Bright pencil and line my lower lash line and the inner corners of my eye to keep things really bright.

How can I get rid of the dark bags/circles under my eyes?
I have had dark circles/bags under my eyes for as long as I can remember. All my pictures from when I was a child even show my bags. I am pretty sure mine are genetic, because my father had them really bad, too, and so do my sisters.

I get 8 hours of sleep, I don’t smoke, I eat a relatively healthy diet and no matter what I do I have them. What can I do to take away that dark, bluish-purple look under my eyes?

    Thank you so much!
It doesn’t matter how much sleep I get. This is the lightest my bags ever are. They are genetic, not from lack of sleep.

    • Anonymous says:

aw, i have the same. It’s not also that, me and you have one thing in common, our eyes are both puffy.

All i do, is i try to get to bed earlier at about 9, then i try to wake up for half 7. If it’s a school night. If it’s a weekend, ill stay up all night and sleep in the day, but you shouldn’t do that. :) It’s bad for us.
I eat healthy too and i don’t smoke either. Try to get more sleep and also invest in a good concealer, No7 is very good, or maybe you might need to go and pay a bit more for the YvesSaintLauren concealer or Dior is quite nice too. They’re about £20, but trust me, they are worth it. I save my money up to get them. Also when you use the concealer, make sure you DAB and not RUB it in. It make them appear worse. (My mom was a beauty therapist aswell as a model so she knows what’s the best for your skin). Try putting ice underneeth your eye too.

Or THIS DOES ACTUALLY WORK! :D
cup your hands and gently roll your hand over your eye near to your nose. It drains some toxins away. (another thing my mom learned) It does work, i do it all the time at school

If any of these don’t work, you may need medical treatment. Do you often have headaches? It may be because of that.
      Good Luck x

I lost sleep for about one day. When I woke up from a few hours sleep, It was yellow under my eyes. Now black and dark green. Any models out there that have treated dark circles?

    • b e r r y says:

Are you sure its not a black eye?
if it’s not, then get atleast 10 hours of sleep, and if theyre still there then use concealer.

I use Clinique’s Moisture Surge and it just really freshens up my face and makes it just super soft and amazing and also has helped a lot with my dark circles/bags. I recommend it to EVERYONE. It’s the most amazing moisturizer I have ever used and I use to have terrible skin. As far makeup, totally invest in a good concealer! I use MAC’s studio sculpt, which if you are athletic and sweat, I don’t recommend, it does melt off fairly easily, but it does cover up bags nicely! If not, Coastal Scents has AMAZING Camo concealer quads, also Amazing Concealer is really great too! Hope this helped! :)

How do I get rid of dark circles and bags under my eyes?
Okay so I am 15 and I have dark circles and bags under my eyes, I want to use a concealer to cover them, and exactly how do I cover them using a concealer? thanks :]

    • love.memuch says:

A lot of people say to put concealer but if you dark circles are really bad it’s better to try and lighten them. I really like Eye Bright from Benefit. This is what I would recommend:
First pat your concealer underneath your eye put thin layers and build it up as you would like I would say at the most three layers. Then take the Eye Bright and take some and pat that under the eye then take a translucent powder and pat it under the eye with a sponge and you finished!

I have had dark circles under my eyes ever since I was little. I have tried everything from cucumbers, teabags, sleep, vitamins, you name it and have had no luck. The only thing I have found to conceal it enough to not look like I’m dead tired is a concealer called, Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless corrector. Ellen Degeneres promotes it. I put a small dab on my finger and dab, not rub, it under my eyes and it helps a lot. If I put it on one eye and not the other it looks like I have a black eye where I didn’t put the concealer on. It may not take away the problem but it helps to hide it more.

Clever ways to cover dark circles and bags under eyes?
My eyes are a bit puffy and I have quite a serious dark circle problem. I use an eye cream (Vichy Aqualia Thermal) every day and night. It’s ok, doesn’t work miracles though. I don’t use a concealer to cover my dark circles because I don’t want to rub the skin under my eyes. I use compact powder instead, which is better for my skin, but also makes my wrinkles look deeper. Any ways to fix this? Thanks!!

    • PaperFlowers says:

I know some home remedies for bags under eyes/ puffiness:
      1) Cut some fresh cucumber slices and put them on your eyes for a few minutes.
      2) Get 2 teaspoons and put them in the fridge for an hour or so. Take them out and put them on your eyes for a couple of minutes.
      3) Do the same, but with used teabags (This works well if you just make 2 cups of tea.)

How to prevent bags and dark circles under your eyes?
I’m only 16, and I’m so afraid I might get bags and wrinkles bad on my eyes. How do I prevent this? I mean I know I can’t prevent wrinkles, but how to prevent more and dark circles?

What I do is before I go to bed, I run an ice under each of my eyes until it melts.
Then right after I wake up I run an ice cube under each eye again. It works pretty good.
Also every once in a while, cut circles of cucumber, relax and put them over your closed eye for about 10-15 minutes.
Another think you could do is after you drink green tea, take the bag out and put it under each eye for 5-10 minutes.
      Remember to be relaxed.
Try to not eat foods with lots of salt.
      Drink lots of water.
Instead of drinking soda, drink water..
Better for you health, better for you skin.

How to get rid of dark circles/bags under my eyes?
I’m 17, and I feel like I almost always have these guys. I typically do not get enough sleep each day, as I don’t have the time to (I usually get anywhere between 4-7 hours of sleep). Even when I do get enough sleep, though, I still have the bags under my eyes.

Is there any way that I can lessen this effect?
Staying up late isn’t due to friends. It’s due to studying.

    • Ryan says:

Sleep more, I know you’re 17 and wanna stay up all night and talk with everyone but that’s your problem you can’t. If you stay awake all night then you lose blood circulation around your eyes. You have to get 8 hours of sleep each night but if you wanna get rid of them fast then 9 hours. You’ll have to do it more than one day. if you’re lucky two days but still

Best ways to reduce bags and dark circles under eyes?
How can you keep your face looking young and get rid of dark circles and bags?… ways to make you face feel clean and soft.

    • Pollywog says:

Get enough sleep, eat healthy, avoid salt (causes swelling, holding fluid) exercise, and drink lots of water to flush the system. use a good concealer for dark circles, and use Preparation H under the eyes to reduce puffiness and bags. Top models do this, it sounds gross but it really does help shrink swollen tissue. To keep the face clean and soft I recommend Dove soap, and a light moisturizer.

Why have I got dark circles/bags under my eyes? How can I get rid of them?
I’m only young and I have dark circles under my eyes. I always have them and now I want to do something about it.
I get enough sleep, usually 8 – 11 hours depending on whether it’s a weekend or school day.
I have to keep covering the bags with make-up but I’d rather just get rid of them completely.
Are there any creams you know work well or anything? If so please give me a full product name so I can look for it in the shops.
I live in the UK so it’ll have to be something available there. =]
So yeah my questions are basically, why do I have them when I get enough sleep? And what can I do to get rid of them?
    Thank youuu!

    • Alpha says:

hm its weird to get those even when you sleep a lot. but the question is are you getting good sleep? i mean being in bed for 8 hours isn’t the same as sleeping for 8 hours. so make sure that you are getting good restful sleep

you could also try eating healthy that couldn’t hurt

I’m 14 and have quite bad bags under my eyes and dark circles. I do go to bed too late and I probably drag the skin under my eyes too much, but I’m trying to stop this. Also, I use that new garnier roll on caffeine moisturiser which I think helps but I’m not really too sure. Really appreciate the help thanks x

A way to remove dark circles (eye bags) under my eyes?
Hello yahoo, I have dark circles under my eyes. It runs in the family so I have had it for a while. I heard that there are ways tor remove these circles, I have tried some remedies like cold spoons, tea bags, and cucumbers; but they haven’t worked. Is there still a possible way to remove dark circles even when they run in the family?

    • kahooya2 says:

Same with me and my family.
And I don’t think there really is a way to permanently get rid of them forever. People tell me to get a few more hours of sleep to make them go away but that doesn’t help me.
We just have to live with them. And its even hard to hide them with makeup, but makeup/concealer on them makes them look better but thats not getting rid of them. Its just covering them up.
Usually dark circles are because the skin is more transparent, thinner, or paler. People have also told me to eat more vegetables but I’ve never tried that before but you could try it.
Is your dark lines under your eyes purple, red, or green?
Sorry that I wasn’t able to help you all that much.
